Description:
Alimta (pemetrexed) is a chemotherapy medication used to treat certain types of cancer, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and malignant pleural mesothelioma. It works by inhibiting enzymes involved in the synthesis of nucleotides, thereby interfering with the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. Alimta is administered intravenously and is often used in combination with other chemotherapy drugs to enhance its effectiveness.
Ingredients:
- Active Ingredient: Pemetrexed disodium equivalent to 500 mg of pemetrexed.
- Inactive Ingredients: Mannitol, hydrochloric acid, and/or sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment).
Usage Instructions:
- Alimta is administered by a healthcare professional as an intravenous infusion.

- Typically, Alimta is given once every 21 days.
