Description:
Aranesp (darbepoetin alfa) 60 mcg/0.3 ml is a prescription medication used to treat anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and those undergoing chemotherapy. It works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells, thereby increasing oxygen delivery to tissues and reducing the need for blood transfusions.
Ingredients:
- Active Ingredient: Darbepoetin alfa (60 mcg per 0.3 ml)
- Other ingredients include polysorbate 80, sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, and sodium chloride in water for injection.
Usage Instructions:
- Administered as a subcutaneous (under the skin) or intravenous (into a vein) injection.
- The dosage and frequency are determined by the healthcare provider based on the patient's condition and response to treatment.
- For CKD patients: Typically administered once every 1 to 4 weeks.
- For chemotherapy-induced anemia: Typically administered once a week or once every 3 weeks.
- Follow the healthcare provider's instructions carefully and do not adjust the dose without consultation.
- Rotate injection sites to avoid localized irritation.
